Mission

Through excellent research-based education, the faculty aims to train students to become experts who possess advanced scientific and solution-oriented knowledge, skills and attitudes with regard to living-organisms applications. The faculty wants to contribute to the personal development of young, socially engaged people and help students gradually develop their disciplinary future self.

History

From Agronomisch Instituut (Agronomical Institute) within the Faculty of Science to Faculteit Bio-ingenieurswetenschappen (Faculty of Bioscience Engineering). The faculty has quite a long history, dating back to the end of the 19th century.

The campus

The faculty’s main building is the Landbouwinstituut (Agricultural Institute), located in Kasteelpark Arenberg in Heverlee (Leuven). Most of the educational activities take place on Campus Leuven (Arenberg).
