Conference program

Welcome

Dear colleagues,

It is my great pleasure and honor to invite you to the first European Conference on Novel Technologies for In Vitro Diagnostics, held in the beautiful city of Leuven, Belgium from October 6th until October 8th 2014!

In vitro medical diagnostics is a field characterized by strong innovation and rapid growth, responding to an increasing demand for personalized diagnosis and therapy. Accordingly, new technologies are continuously being developed, featuring higher sensitivity, shorter detection times, and more robust and cost-effective assay formats than earlier solutions. However, the development of new molecular assays, from the basic molecular architecture to successful clinical products requires awareness of the numerous aspects that influence the opportunities for new products to reach the market.

The conference will provide a premier forum for discussions of the aspects driving the development of new diagnostic tools, with particular emphasis on innovative devices and molecular technologies of medical or industrial relevance. Experts in the field will meet to discuss exciting innovations in the sector, with keynote presentations focused on technological, biological, clinical and regulatory aspects in a unique combination of biology and technology with a strongly interdisciplinary approach.

The format will include plenary talks from internationally renowned invited speakers, selected poster presentations, and pre-conference thematic workshops (meet the expert) covering topics of relevance for the development of new diagnostic tools.

The conference will be organized by KU Leuven and supported by 5 European research projects (BioMaXRAPP-IDDiaTools, CareMore and NextDx) and it will offer open floor discussion and networking opportunities for major European players and experts in the field of in vitro diagnostics.

We are looking forward to meeting you all in Leuven in 2014.

Yours sincerely,

Jeroen Lammertyn

on behalf of the conference co-chairs and the local organizing committee.
