The lab is always interested in applications from junior and senior scientists - lab technicians, PhD students and postdocs. Several independent research projects are available, including, but not limited to, the role of variable tandem repeats in genomes, genome-wide chromatin dynamics and evolvability of phenotypic traits, both in yeast cells and in higher eukaryotes, including humans. For more information, see our research and publications webpage. Most of our research uses the budding yeast S. cerevisiae as a model, but we are also interested in expanding to other models or human cell lines. Successful candidates will have obtained or submitted their BSc, MSc and/or PhD and have a proven track record of high-quality education and/or research and possibly experience with relevant techniques. We offer a competitive remuneration package, top-notch scientific surrounding, state-of-the-art infrastructure in a brand new building, and a fun, dynamic environment with English as the main language. Qualified senior candidates will have the possibility to mentor junior scientists and technicians, and work semi-independently. All applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, and for postdocs at least 2 letters of recommendation to Kevin.Verstrepen@biw.kuleuven.be Top-ranked candidates will be invited for an interview in Leuven, Belgium. The lab members have assembled an informal "guide to newcomers" in Leuven, which may be helpful, especially for foreign applicants. The guide is by no means complete, but it does contain quite a few useful tips about enetring grad school, obtaining immigartion papers and settling down in Leuven, both for PhD students as well as for postdocs.. |
